Ila Mae Duncan Adams, 85, of Batesburg, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 10, at Beulah Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery with Pastor Frank Longshore officiating. Pallbearers are Quinton Gulledge, Lee Etters, Dante' Mathis, Steven Scott, Linus Taylor Jr. and Wayne Bodie.
Mrs. Adams was born in Saluda County, daughter of the late Walter Clifton and Maybel McCormick Duncan. She was married to the late William Everette Adams for nearly 50 years. Mrs. Adams was a very active member of Beulah Baptist Church, serving over 50 years as a Sunday School Teacher as well as various ministries. She loved serving her Lord and witnessing to the community. Mrs. Adams looked after everyone. She loved to garden and to cook. Her loving caregiver was her grandson, Brent Adams.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert (Shirley) Adams, Charles (Andrea) Adams both of Batesburg; daughter-in-law, Elena Adams; sisters, Corrie Mankin, Annie Faye Gulledge both of Leesville; 9 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, William Russell Adams; brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Thursday, July 9, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, other times at her home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beulah Baptist Church, PO Box 2427, Batesburg-Leesville, SC 29070 or the Christian Ministry Center, 1408 Summerland Ave, Leesville, SC 29070.
