Allan Eugene Bates

Allan Eugene Bates, 69, of West Columbia, passed away on July 6, 2024. Born in Columbia, SC on March 6, 1956 to the late Gene and Faye Carroll Bates. He was a graduate of Irmo High School where he was involved in football. Allan started working on cars as a teenager and worked alongside his dad for a while in the service department at a Columbia car dealership. He later went into auto parts counter sales where he became a manager at Carquest Auto Parts for several years.

While Allan did not always make the best choices in life, he had an enormous heart. He was always willing to help anyone he could no matter what the need. He had a quick wit loved baseball, football, dogs and a good meal.

He is survived by his first wife, Debbie Waters Bates; their son, Dustin Bates (Megan); and two grandchildren, Gavin and Wren Bates; his former wife, Mechelle Bates, and their son, Jake Bates. Allan is also survived by a sister, Kellie Bates Davis (Jamie); and nephew, Wyatt Davis; his Aunt JoAnne (Waddy) Babb; cousins, Ty (Rollins) Babb, Campbell, Harrison, Gray Babb, Matt (Katie) Babb, Lainey and Sam.
