Arnie Mae Smith

Arnie Mae Smith, age 87, of Batesburg, peacefully passed away Saturday morning, April 24, 2021, at Saluda Nursing Center. She was born September 9, 1933, in Aiken County, a daughter of the late Carrie Lee Bailey Smith and Ocey Snipes. Arnie was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Homer Crosson Smith; her grandson, Anthony Todd Risinger; and her siblings, Chester, Bud, Gladys, Irene, Mildred, and Carol. She was a member of Amick Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church. She enjoyed gardening, decorating for the holidays, shopping, hugs, pets and spending time with her family. She worked at Wagner Manufacturing.

Arnie is survived by three daughters, Ailine Fox (Donnie) of Leesville, Betty Gunter (Gatlin) of Hephzibah, GA and Christine Rish (Charles) of Cowpens. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Bridget Senterfeit (Kirby) of Leesville, Tina Gunter of Aiken, Tonya Rish (Trent) of Batesburg, Brandi Fox of Charleston, Jessica Rish (Willie) of Cowpens, Kit Gunter of Batesburg, and Brandy Chapman of Leesville; 10 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild, and her brother, Jasper Johson of Aiken. Arnie also leaves many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

The service for Mrs. Smith will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 27th, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, 115 N. Pine Street, Batesburg with Mrs. Beverly Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Amick Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church, 2090 Batesburg Hwy, Batesburg. Serving as pallbearers will be, Matt Chapman, Justin Risinger, Jacob Risinger, Chaz Lewis, Kirby Senterfeit and Devon McRorie. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home, from 2 until 3:00 p.m.
