Benny Eugene Troutman

Benny Eugene Troutman, 72, went home to be with the Lord on August 23, 2017. Benny battled lung, bladder and brain cancer for 12 years. With the support and love of his wife and family, he enjoyed a simple but full life.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years Lynette (Puckett), three daughters and four grandchildren; Paige Waters (Breydan Wingard and Chase Waters) of Batesburg, Heather Owens of Lexington, and Holley Sheppard (Kevin Steele) (Emma Sheppard and Jeb Steele) also of Lexington. Sister and brothers Delores Taylor, Edwin (Vesta) and Roger Troutman. He also provided a special home to Jennifer Hallman McEachen, Amy and Brian Rauton. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Timothy Waters.

Benny was a God-fearing man who loved attending, singing in the choir and worshipping at Samaria Baptist Church, where he also was an ordained deacon. Benny loved bass fishing, competing in tournaments across the state. Benny loved all Gamecock sports and high school football. He loved to make people laugh and was loved by many. He will be missed but his memory will live through his family and friends.

Benny’s family gratefully acknowledges the steadfast loving care and unceasing kindness of Kim Leaphart and Robert Padgett. Thank you to the Palmetto Health Hospice and TriCounty Hospice for the loving care and concern during this time in his life.

Funeral services will be held at 6pm on Friday, August 25th with burial immediately following in the church cemetery with Rev. John Yorio officiating. The family will receive friends and family after the service in the sanctuary, other times at his home. Memorials can be made to Samaria Baptist Church.
