Betty Ruth King Baker, 89, of North Augusta, SC went to be with the Lord on December 7, 2017. Betty was born in Fort Mill, SC to the late Paul M. King and Viola Irby King. Betty loved to play the piano and organ in her church. She was a giving person and loved helping people. She was a Godly wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was a faithful wife of 60 plus years to her sweetheart, Rev. James Randal Baker. Her service to her Lord and Savior was evident as she faithfully supported her husband in his pastoral ministry throughout South Carolina.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. JR Baker, North Augusta, SC, a daughter Linda Wasine Baker Gilmore and husband David, North Augusta, SC; son Joel M. Baker Lt. Col. USAF (Retired) and wife Patricia, Fayetteville, NC. Three grandchildren: Elizabeth (Beth) Fisk Rabb and husband Stuart, Evans, GA., Ryan Baker and wife Jennifer, Knoxville, TN., Dr. Jennifer Baker-Burroughs and husband Ryan, Lebanon, PA. Six great-grandchildren: Andrew, Grayson and Avery Rabb, Noah and Delaney Baker, and Ben Coulter. She was predeceased by one sister, Hilda King Wright and one brother, Rev. William King.
Celebration of her life will be 2 pm Monday, December 11th at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Leesville, 264 Main Street, Leesville, SC 29070. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens, 620 S. Cherry Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732 on Tuesday, December 12 at 2:00 pm. Betty would have been celebrating her 90 birthday Tuesday the 12th. Friends may call on the family at 1107 Lake Greenwood Dr., North Augusta, SC.
