Brenda Counts

August 19, 1961 — July 30, 2022

Brenda Carder Counts, 60, of Batesburg-Leesville, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 30, 2022. Brenda was born in Cumberland, Maryland, and was a daughter of Shirley Lybrand Carder and the late Taylor "Tick" Carder. She was a graduate of Batesburg-Leesville High School and graduated from Midlands Technical College with a degree in Criminal Justice. She attended the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, and was employed by the FBI early in her life prior to her marriage and raising her daughters. For the past several years she was employed by Lexington Medical Center at the Lexington Women's Care Chapin office.

Brenda was a kind-hearted soul who was a friend to all who knew her. She devoted her life to being a loving mother and wife to her three daughters and her husband. She enjoyed gardening, crafty sewing projects, camping at Hunting Island, and visiting Walt Disney World with her family. She loved her animals and always had a furry family of cats and dogs. She was a faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church in Batesburg-Leesville.

Brenda is survived by her husband of 36 years, Walter Counts; her daughters, which were her pride and joy, Sarah and Laura Counts of Batesburg-Leesville, and Kaitie Counts of Easley. She is also survived by her mother, Shirley Carder; brothers, Ashley Carder and his wife Carolyn, Ricky Carder, all of Batesburg-Leesville; sister, Kim Huggins and her husband Joel of Lexington. She was predeceased by her father, Taylor Carder, her father-and-mother-in-law Dr. Gurdon and Libby Counts, and her brother, James Carder. She also leaves behind a large extended family and friends who loved her dearly and will miss her.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692 or Faith Lutheran Church, 113 N. Oak Street, Batesburg-Leesville, SC 29006.
