C B "Joe" Wood

CB “Joe” Wood, 85, of Batesburg, was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, October 8, 2018. Funeral services will be held at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Vollie Gibbs officiating.

Active pallbearers are Brandon Cassada, Justin Cassada, Bob “Lil’ Bob” Smith, Jr., Charles E. Wood, TJ Maroney and Justin Hogan.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 10, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, other times at his home.

Mr. Wood was born in Samaria, SC son of the late Ben and Annie Kneece Wood. He was a truck driver for Johnny Oswalt Logging.

Surviving are: his wife, Geneva Gunter Wood; son, Charlie Wood, Sr.; daughters, Sylvia Smith (Jerry Steele); Glenda Hendrix (Richard); Lisa Kingsmore (David); sister, Magaleen Mundy,; grandchildren: Charles E. Wood (Lanaia), Dedra Gillian (Brandon), Kristie Maroney (Trinity), Charlie Wood, Jr., Bob “Lil’ Bob” Smith Jr., Michelle Williams (Mitch), Amanda Efthemes (Troy), Becky Oquendo (Josier), Brittany Leonhardt (Joshua). Justin Cassada (Crystal), Brandon Cassada (Samantha), April Cassada and step-grandchild, Peyton Kingsmore; he also had twenty-six great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by brothers, Douglas, Delmar, Vinson, Calvin, Homer, JC, and Dave Wood; sisters, Cleo Oswalt and baby Lynette; grandson, Jason Wood; and infant great-granddaughter Ariana Grace Leonhardt.
