Charles Mckay

Charles McKay, 78, of Monetta, SC died Saturday, July 31, 2021 at his home. Born in Aiken County, SC, he was the son of the late William Chapman McKay and Mattie Lou Jones McKay. A life long resident of Monetta, Mr. McKay was known as a hard worker who owned and operated McKay grocery and worked in flooring. He was a former member of the Monetta Town Council. Mr. McKay was a longtime member of Bethel Baptist church, where he served as a deacon.

He is survived by his sons, Jeffrey McKay (Missy) of Monetta and Charles Tracy McKay (Amie) of Leesville. He is also survived by his sister, Gloria Rodgers; his grandchildren, Jonathon McKay (Mary), Jason McKay, Garrett McKay (Ashley), Matthew McKay (Heidi) and Amanda McKay Johnson (Jeremy); great grandchildren, Chloe, Justin, and Millie McKay, Kyndall and Kash Johnson. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rachel Boatwright McKay and Debra Matthews McKay.

The funeral service for Mr. McKay will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 5th at Bethel Baptist Church, 113 Bethel Road, Monetta with burial to follow in Ridge Spring Cemetery. The Rev. Preston West will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Milton Shealy Funeral Home, is assisting the family.
