Cornelia Derrick

Cornelia Derrick, 88, of Leesville, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday, May 1, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday, May 4 at First Calvary Baptist Church with interment in Ridge Crest Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Hoover, Doug White, Mike Derrick, Charles Gunter, Gerold Smith, and Luke Derrick. Mrs. Derrick was born in Leesville, SC, daughter of the late Virgil and Adress Veola Rawls Rish. She was married to the late John C. Derrick. Mrs. Derrick was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church, she was a Sunday school and Bible study teacher, a member of the WMU, and worked with the Meals on Wheels program. Surviving are her sons, Melvin (Alice) Derrick of Batesburg; Cecil Quinton (Pamela) Derrick of Texas; sister, Alice Eargle of Chapin; grandchildren, Allison (Wes) Hoft; Luke Derrick; Chris (Heather) Derrick; Somer Starkes; and six great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. Sunday, May 3, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, other times at the home of her son, Melvin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Calvary Baptist Church, 2320 Cedar Grove Rd, Leesville, SC 29070. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Saluda Nursing Center, Sawyer Wing for all their love and care of Mrs. Derrick.
