Darrell “Mason” Whittle, born September 24th 1996 was the beloved son of Pam Long and Darrell Whittle. Mason was born with a rare genetic disorder, Sanfilippo Syndrome or MPS III B doctors told his family he would only live an average lifespan of 10-14 years. Mason has blessed us with 22 years of wonderful memories. He taught us more love then we alone would ever know. Mason was loved by everyone he met.
Surviving are his father, Darrell Whittle and his mother, Pam Long (David Custeau); sister, Stephanie Rowe (Randy); step-brother, Austin Custeau; paternal grandmother, Christine Whittle; maternal grandfather, Danny Long; one nephew, Ethan Rowe; and one niece, Reba Rowe. He was predeceased by paternal grandfather, Floyd Tracy “Jack” Whittle, Jr. and maternal grandmother, Myrtle Long.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, January 21, at Saluda First Pentecostal Holiness Church with interment in Little Angels Cemetery with Rev. Louie Murray officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM Sunday, January 20, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial can be made to National M.P.S., P.O. Box 14686, Durham, NC 27709-4686.
