David Garrett McCormick, Jr, 88, of Monetta, entered his eternal home on July 10, 2020. He was born on September 12, 1931 in Saluda County to the late David Garrett McCormick, Sr. and America Padgett McCormick. Mr. McCormick was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Janice Corder McCormick. Surviving are his daughters, Cindy M. Oswalt (Gary) of Batesburg, Anne M. Bedenbaugh (Ricky) of Leesville; sons, David Steve McCormick (Lynne) of Leesville, Charles Garrett McCormick (Deborah) of Monetta; ten grandchildren, Garrett Oswalt, Jared Oswalt (Gwen), Brad Bedenbaugh (Brigette), Ashley Bedenbaugh Harmon (Brad), Michael Bedenbaugh (Ashley), Timmy McCormick (Jessica), Brandon McCormick, Kelli DeBoer (Rob), Amy McCormick Leaphart (Christopher) and Kristina McCormick Hinton (Martin); twelve great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Arabella Oswalt (Jared), Trinity Bedenbaugh, Gracie Bedenbaugh, Matt Bedenbaugh (Brad), Cole Harmon, Caylen Harmon (Ashley), Alex Bedenbaugh, Tyler Bedenbaugh (Michael), Bryson McCormick, Braedon McCormick, Britten McCormick (Timmy), Ethan Johnston (Kelli), Nate Leaphart and Natalie Leaphart (Amy), Kya McCormick (Kristina); and one brother, Virgil McCormick (Sylvia) of Anderson.
He was preceded in death by brothers, James McCormick (Roberta), Willard McCormick (Pattie); sisters, Inis McCormick Fulmer (Morgan), Inez M. McCormick (Allen), Savannah McCormick Jones (Troy), Evetter McCormick Warren (Lester), Mattie McCormick Connelly (James), Helen McCormick Anderson (Myer).
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 13, at Bethel Baptist Church with interment in Ridge Spring Cemetery with Rev. Preston West officiating. Active pallbearers will be Garrett Oswalt, Jared Oswalt, Brad Bedenbaugh, Michael Bedenbaugh, Chris Leaphart, and Martin Hinton. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon McCormick and Timmy McCormick. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Sunday, July 12, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, other times at his home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist, Youth Camp Fund, Hwy. 23, 113 Bethel Road, Monetta, SC, South Carolina, 29105.
