Mr. Hendley was born in Saluda County, a son of the late James David and Julia Belle Gilree Hendley. He was a mechanic at Herlong Chevrolet, where he never met a stranger by greeting everyone with kindness and a smile. Everyone knew him as "Pop" because he was a father figure to many. He loved to cook, music, dancing, KJ's Market and his '92 Chevy S-10 aka "six pack". But most of all he loved his family, especially his grandkids. He was a beloved father, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed by all!
Surviving are his sons, Carlos Tolen, Kentrale Hendley (Cami), Jonathan Fink (Courtney); daughters, Jerrissica Dukes, Julia Hendley; 14 grandchildren; his companion, Ginny Gregory; and his children's mother, Lynn Fink. Also surviving are his siblings, Priscilla Hendley, Oree Henry, Willie Dozier and Hazel Smith; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Kayree Dukes and several brothers and sisters.
