Elizabeth Ann Gunter, 71, of Gilbert, beloved wife of the late Larry W. Gunter, gained her heavenly wings and took her place in God's kingdom shortly after midnight on Wednesday, November 20th, 2024. Born on February 28th, 1953 in Columbia, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Rebecca Epting-Smith. She spent her life devoted to her husband of more than 40 years and her daughters and grandsons. Mrs. Gunter lived a life defined by love, kindness, and selfless devotion to her family and loved ones so they would never walk alone in life. She never left without giving her famous hugs and saying "I love you" and "call me when you get home". She enjoyed reading books, conversations with her family, music from bands such as Herman’s Hermits, The Beach Boys and Hottie and the Blowfish, a slice of good cheesecake, and had a love for all animals.
She is survived by her three daughters, Melanie L. Price (Tommy), Adrienne D. Price (Mark), and Des’ola R. Mecozzi (Kevin); her grandsons, Jacob Price, Tony “Bud” Price (Harmony), and Bjorn Mecozzi. Mrs. Gunter is also survived by her brother, Jimmy M. Smith (Becky) along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her baby brother, Bruce A. Smith, and her beloved lab-mastiff, Kronos. Her legacy will live on through the memories and laughter she created with those who loved her.
The graveside service for Elizabeth Ann will be held at 3 o'clock on Saturday, November 23rd at Mt. Ebal Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Paulling and Rev. Randy Brazell officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the graveside. Honorary pallbearers will be her older brother, Jimmy Smith and her brothers-in-law, Sammy and Bruce Gunter.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her honor to America’s VetDogs [https://www.vetdogs.org/] or to Mt. Ebal Baptist Church, 5 Lion Loop, Batesburg, SC 29006.
The family would like to thank the many nurses that helped Mrs. Gunter over the last year to keep her comfortable all the way to the end. They would like to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Evelyn Calbert, RN (who was the only one Mrs. Gunter would dance with), Mrs. Bernice Owens, CNA (whom she loved conversations with and smiles), and also Mrs. Sharon Myers, Chaplin. These ladies became a part of the family and made sure Mrs. Gunter had everything she needed to live the rest of her days with comfort and dignity. "Thank you for being the light in our darkest times and for giving mom visits she looked forward to daily."
