Floyd Perry Wheeler

Floyd Perry Wheeler, 91, of Batesburg, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 10, at Mt. Ebal Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery with Rev. Bill Paulling officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.

Active pallbearers will be Travas Smith, Andy Burgess, Jacob Burgess, Dean Oswalt, Gene “Coot” Oswalt, and Nathan Prouse. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Oswald, Plato Kneece, Jr, Ray Rodgers and Walter Quattlebaum.

Mr. Wheeler was born in Aiken County, son of the late Lever J. and Leona Smith Wheeler. He was married to the late Ella Lorene Oswalt Wheeler. Mr. Wheeler was a lifetime sawmill operator and logger.

Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia W. (Wallace) Smith; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry E. “Bud” (Ellen) Wheeler, Bill (Patsy) Oswalt all of Batesburg; grandchildren, Candi (Andy) Burgess, Dean (Linda) Oswalt, Gene (Yvette) Oswalt all of Batesburg, Travas (Monica) Smith of Monetta, Kelly Miller of Wagener, Bridgett (Mike) Ard of Batesburg; three step-grandsons, Steven, Jason, Nathan Prouse; fifteen great grandchildren; brother, Clarence Wheeler; and sister-in-law, Elaine Wheeler. He was preceded in death by brothers, William, Levi, Carl, James, and Billy Wheeler and a sister, Mary W. Smith.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Ebal Baptist Church, 5 Lion Loop, Batesburg, SC 29006. The family would like to give a special thanks to the nursing staff of Pepperhill Nursing Center, Aiken, SC, for all their loving care during the last 15 years. Also, a special thanks to CNA’s, Pandora, Van and Lisa and Encompass Home Health and Hospice for their love and care.
