Fred Larry Rude

Fred Larry Rude, 75, of Saluda, passed away Friday night, December 9, 2022. Mr. Rude was born in Newberry, SC, a son of the late Eva Vivian Bradley Scurry and Harry Fisher Rude. He worked 8 years as a pipefitter for the Charleston Naval Shipyard, before moving back home where he worked as a jailor and dispatcher for over thirty years for the Saluda County Law Enforcement Center.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth Althea Rude; children, Tabetha Marcie Rude, Phillip W. Rude; grandchildren, Alicia Harris (Daniel), Jessica Buck (James), Jacob Rude (Josie), Taylor Comer, Kaylea Comer, Dalton Rude, and Rebecca O'Brien (Rob); and his beloved great grandchildren, Jaxson and Alayna Harris, Jay, Waylon, Wyatt, and Robbie Buck, Piper and Coriann Rude, and Kessler Comer-Gunter. Also surviving are his brother, Steve Scurry (Joyce); sister, Suzanne Scurry Greenhill; and sisters-in-law, Donnette Rude and Joyce Rude. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Larry E. Rude; brothers, Harry Rude, Bob Rude; and a brother-in-law, Richard Greenhill.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation in his memory be made to the charity of your choice.

The memorial service for Mr. Rude will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 20th at Milton Shealy Funeral Home. Pastor Rusty Trotter will officiate. The family will receive friends on hour prior to the service from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
