Gail Padgett Brown, 71, of Batesburg, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022. A private family graveside service will be held at Mt. Ebal Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Bill Paulling and Rev. Bill Padgett officiating.
Mrs. Brown was born in Batesburg, SC, a daughter of the late Mary Ellen Hall Padgett and Curtis Padgett. Gail was owner and CEO of Palmetto Pride Pure Puerto Rican Paso Fino Farm and has made horses part of her life since day one. After marrying her high school sweetheart, she decided to go check out some Paso Finos that were in Columbia, SC at the time. After riding one of the Pasos, she told her husband, James, “If we can afford this horse, I’ll just ride him home.” Her passion in life was preserving and promoting the Pure Puerto Paso Fino horses. She served as President of the Pure Puerto Rican Paso Fino Federation of American Inc. for over 20 years.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, James Curtis Brown (Kelli) and Pedro Burgos (Melissa); daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Lynn Brown Watkins (Jamey); sister, Kay Dorrell (Vernon); brother, William Padgett (Becky); as well as her grandchildren, Tristan, Selah, Micah, and Josiah Brown, Abigail Watkins, Fernando and Genesis Burgos. She was preceded in death by her husband, James O. Brown.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pure Puerto Rican Paso Fino Federation of America or Palmetto Pride Paso Fino Farm.
