Geneva Wood

Geneva G. Wood, 84, of Batesburg, SC, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 7th, 2023. Mrs. Wood was born on June 9, 1938 in Aiken, SC to the late Luther C. and Ina Thornton Gunter. She was the loving wife to the late C.B. Wood. Mrs. Wood was employed at the Aiken Sewing Room for years to count and cleaned houses for numerous families.

She is survived by sisters, Gail Storey, Brenda Wise, and Betty Gunter; four children, Charlie, Sylvia Smith (Jerry Steele), Glenda Hendrix (Richard), and Lisa Kingsmore (David); grandchildren: Charles E. Wood (Lanaia), Dedra Gillian (Brandon), Kristie Maroney (Trinity), Charlie Wood, Jr., Bob Smith, Jr. (Angie), Michelle Williams (Mitch), Amanda Floyd, Rebecca Oquendo (Josier), Brittany Leonhardt (Joshua), Justin Cassada (Ingrid); Brandon Cassada (Samantha), and April Cassada; 27 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Willow Mae Wise and Vivian O. Gunter; three brothers: Arthur Gunter, Carlton Gunter, and Luther Gunter, Jr.; a grandson, Jason Wood; and infant great-granddaughter, Ariana Grace Leonhardt.

The funeral service for Mrs. Wood will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, June 9th at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church,164 Mt Pleasant Rd, Ridge Spring, SC with the Rev. Vollie Gibbs officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12 until-1:00 p.m. in the sanctuary.
