Gerald Swygert

Gerald Raymond Swygert, 83, went Home to his Lord and Savior, Wednesday, July 28, 2021. A private graveside service will be held at Concord Baptist Church, where he was a faithful servant. Pastor Zak Knight will officiate.

Mr. Swygert was born in Lexington County, a son of the late Raymond and Nola Shealy Swygert. He loved his Heavenly Father, his family, old cars, old country music and war history. He also enjoyed riding his tractor, eating his tomatoes that he grew every summer and sitting in his swing. Mr. Swygert started his textile career in Graniteville. He also was employed by Burlington and J.B. Martin, where he retired in 2002.

Surviving are his daughters, Donna S. Robinson of Red Bank and Janet Preston of Leesville; five grandchildren, Tasha McGee, Kelly Carter, Lindsay McGuire, Landon Preston and Lucas Swygert ; and eleven great grandchildren. Also surviving are his two sisters, Shirley Smith (Linwood) and Kathy Harmon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marie Swygert and brothers, Dean and Dale Swygert.

We will miss his Sunday afternoon stories and wisdom.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Hospital or a charity of one's choice.
