Grover Edwin "Jack" Whitman

Grover Edwin “Jack” Whitman, 79, of Leesville, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, June 11, at Ebenezer Southern Methodist Church with Pastor John Hood officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 P.M. before the service at the church. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Mitchell, Tracy Waters, Phillip Motes, Harley Dillard, Hannah Motes, and Jordan Waters.

Mr. Whitman was born in Leesville, SC, son of the late Everard Whitman and Neita Senn Connelly. He retired from J.B. Martin after 32 years of employment. He was a member of the B-L Masonic Lodge #138 and the Hilltop Hunting Club of Fort Mott.

Surviving are his wife, Doris Waters Whitman; grandson, Brandon (Kristen) Whitman; daughter-in-law, Gail Vaughan; and sisters, Dale (Mike) Drenton; Lora (Byron) Craps. He was preceded in death by his son, Eddie Whitman and sister, Norma “Tootsie” Harmon.
