Harry Alfred Canada, 89, of Pelion, SC went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on August 11, 2016. Born May22, 1927 in Fort Christmas, Florida. He was the son of the late Henry Allen Canada and the late Lillian Allison. Harry was a WWII Navy veteran and a decorated Korean War veteran where he received a Purple Heart for being wounded in combat. He was a welder/fabricator retired from Tamper Railway, now Harsco Rail.
He is survived by his 5 children Harriete (Shannon) Merrill of Pelion SC; Teresa (Ralph) Wilmoth of West Virginia; Henry (Vickie) Canada of Pelion SC; Don (Pam) Canada of Camden SC; and John (Sharon) Canada of Pelion SC; brothers, Robert (Lottie) Canada; and Roy Canada of Tennessee; Ben David (Glenda) Canada; and Jerry Canada of Florida; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Ola Fallaw Canada; sisters, Lillian Miller and Judy Canada; brothers, Ernie Franklin Canada, and Eddie Canada.
Services will be at Milton Shealy Funeral home in Batesburg-Leesville on Sunday, August 14, at 3:00 P.M. at Milton Shealy Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Ridge Spring cemetery in Ridge Spring SC with military honors with Rev. Cook Addy officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 13 at Henry’s home. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons.
