Herbert "Rowdy Ray" Colson

Herbert "Rowdy Ray" Colson, 39, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 24, at Samaria Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery with Rev. Dennis Metts officiating. Active pallbearers will be Jason Smith, Josh Butts, Thomas Blakely, Mathew Davis, James Maddox, Robert Wilson, Brodie Gartman and Brandon Gartman. Ray was born in Houston, Texas and loved his Texas Longhorns. He never met a stranger and could make you laugh even through the darkest times. He loved working for himself, picking up and delivering boats. He really enjoyed spending time with his son, Tyler Lee Colson, of Arrarat, Virginia. Tyler was the love of his life. He leaves behind a multitude of friends and family that love him so much and whose hearts are breaking. He will be our angel looking down and protecting us all. He leaves behind his mother, Ann (Royce) Fink of Batesburg; sisters and brothers, Mary Denise Lanier of Cold Springs, TX; Donald (Crystal) Diehl of Coloma, Michigan; Edwin (Tonya) Huston of Lexington; Greg (Michelle) Huston of Marion, TX; Curtis (Maria) Fink of Lexington; Deon (Courtney) Fink of Lexington; Andrea Mallard of Lexington; Marla (Larry) Fink of Columbia; Debbie McCandless of Cut And Shoot, Texas; Marvin Lee Colson, Jr. of Louisiana; wife, Elizabeth Jones and her children; and also numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Marvin Lee Colson. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Thursday, October 23, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, other times at the home of his mother and step-father, 6452 Fairview Road, Batesburg, SC 29006.
