James Bobby Munn, 86, of Gilbert, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Wednesday, August 24, at Samaria Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery with Rev. John Yorio. Honorary pallbearers are the Adult Sunday School Class and Deacons of Samaria Baptist Church.
Mr. Munn was born in Duffie, Mississippi son of the late James Earl Munn and Mildred Clearman Munn. He played basketball at Southern Mississippi University. He was an Army Veteran and had served in the Korean War and he was a member of Scooba Veterans Association. He was retired manager of Checker Transfer and Storage and worked part time at Rawls Auto Auction. He was a member of Samaria Baptist Church, Sunday school teacher, R.A. teacher, Deacon and Young at Heart Seniors. He coached Dixie Youth Baseball and also played and coached with the church league softball team. He enjoyed short track racing, Braves baseball, hunting, fishing, rodeos and cutting grass. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Bobbie Jo Munn; daughter and son-in-law, Dianne M. Craps (Jerry); son, Mike Munn; grandchildren: Kathy M. McCoy (Cory) and Brian W. Craps; great grandchildren: Cashan McCoy, Cailyn Craps and Clayton Craps. He was predeceased by brothers, Jimmy M. and Sammy N. Munn; grandson, Chris Craps and great granddaughter, Mikayla McCoy.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Lutheran Hospice for their love and support. We would also like to thank the Lexington Cardiology doctors, the C.P.U. nurses at Lexington Medical Center, and the Red Team at William J. Dorn VA Hospital.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday August 23, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home.
