James Mims Keisler, 96, of Batesburg passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2022. Born in Batesburg, he was a son of the late Julian and Dottie Pearl Keisler. He was a member of the Cedar Grove Lutheran Church and attended St. Peters Lutheran Church. Mr. Keisler retired from the Savannah River Plant and farming.
Surviving are his daughter, Sheila Cockrell (Billy); granddaughter, Laura Cockrell (Zane Bedenbaugh); and two great-grandchildren, Bryson and Mackenzie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Keisler; a brother, Shuford Keisler; and sisters, Alberta Shealy and Mary Lou Hallman.
The service for Mr. Keisler will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, August 11th at Milton Shealy Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Cedar Grove Lutheran Church Cemetery. Pastor Reginald Cruze and Rev. Joseph Hallman will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 P.M. Wednesday evening at Milton Shealy Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be: Edward Hallman, Ollie Salters, Brice Hallman, Ronald Disher, Winifred Hallman, Bruce Hallman, Joe Tollison, Jimmy Boozer, and David Hallman; along with Honorary Pallbearers: Kenny Long, Malcolm Bryant, Gene Shealy, Harold Taylor, Travis Taylor, Melvin Hartley, Herbert Long, Leon Addy, Ron Kirkland, Harold Miller, Clay Burkett, and Molly Burkett.
The family would like to thank the staff at Lexington Medical Center for their care during Mr. Keisler's recent illness.
