J.B. Wooten

Services for Jeffy Bernard Wooten (J.B.), 87, of Gilbert, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home Chapel, Batesburg, SC, with burial to follow in Ridge Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. prior to the service, other times at his home. Mr. Wooten's nephew, Pastor Terry Greene will officiate. Pallbearers will be the deacons from his church. Formerly of Leesville, SC, Mr. Wooten passed away peacefully at home Saturday evening surrounded by his family. He was an active and serving member of the First Baptist Church of Leesville until health issues caused him to be homebound. He was retired from J.B. Martin Company as Quality Control Manager with thirty two years of service. He was an avid rock hound and member of Columbia Gem and Mineral Society. Mr. Wooten graduated from Batesburg-Leesville High School in 1973 after completing his high school education in the Adult Education Program. Survivors include: his wife of 70 years, Jo Ann T. Wooten; daughter, Phyllis W. Johnson (Jimmy); son, Steve Wooten (Mary); sister, Ann W. Napier (Ralph); three grandchildren, James Johnson (Shannon); Daniel Wooten (Nikki); Hannah Wooten; six great grandchildren, Chloe and Alex Owens; Julianne, Megan, Madison and Claire Wooten. He was preceded in death by his father, Jeffy Olester Bernard Wooten; mother, Maggie Lee Cobb Wooten; step-mother, Zella Sellars Wooten; sister, Faye W. Seigler; and brother, Jack Williams. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that memorials may be made to the Youth Program at First Baptist Church of Leesville or Connie Maxwell Children's Home, Greenwood, SC, conniemaxwell.com.
