Jean Oswald, 84, of Ridge Spring, passed away Saturday, January 03, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 5, at Ridge Spring Baptist Church with interment in Ridge Crest Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Alan McDowell, Joshua McDowell, Richard Miller, David Sawyer, Billy Rodgers and Curtis Johnson. Mrs. Oswald was born in Edgefield, SC, daughter of the late Clyde and Nellie Timmerman Bledsoe. She was married to the late James A. Smith and Mark Oswald. She had worked at Jordan Drug Company for a number of years. Mrs. Oswald was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She was a member of Ridge Spring Baptist Church where she was a faithful member and a Christian lady. Mrs. Oswald was a member of the Ridge Spring Baptist Church WMU Morning Group, the Bible Study, and the Faith Women Sunday School Class. Surviving are her son, Tim (Traci) Smith of Leesville; brother, Davis (Wynell) Bledsoe of Johnston; sisters, Mary (Dan) Layman of Edgefield; Doris (Matthew) McGee of North Augusta; granddaughter, Megan (Blake) Burkett of Leesville; and one great granddaughter, Emmy Claire Burkett. She was preceded in death by brothers, Graham and Rufus Bledsoe; and sisters, Meriam Forrest and Virginia Parrish. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Sunday, January 4, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, other times at the home of her son. The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregiver, JoAnn Clamp for all her love and support. Memorials may be made to Ridge Spring Baptist Church.
