Joe W. Perkins

Joe William Perkins, 69, of Gilbert, passed away at his home on Thursday, November 17, 2022. Born in Dayton, Ohio, he was a son of the late Roy and Jean Wolfenbarger Perkins. He was a 1971 graduate of Tecumseh High School in New Carlisle, Ohio and later attended electricians school. Mr. Perkins was a US Navy veteran having served during the Vietnam Era.


Surviving are his wife, Karen Scanlon Perkins; daughters, Amber Newman (Darrell), Amanda Krys (James), MIchelle McCreary (Cody) and Mallory Thiergart (Justin); 10 grandchildren, Logan Oliver, Kaylee Krys, Lucas Krys, Easton McCreary, Cullen McCreary, Anna Grace Newman, Bentley Jackson, Whitley Thiergart, Asher Newman and Kalaney Jackson. He is also survived by siblings, Sharon Parr (Phil), Carol Long (Bill), Larry Perkins as well as nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dickie Perkins and sister-in-law, Elaine Perkins.


A  graveside service for Mr. Perkins will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, November 25th at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia with the Rev. Bill Long officiating. The family will receive friends Friday morning prior to the service from 9 until 10:30 am at Milton Shealy Funeral Home.
