John Leland Boozer, 55, of Batesburg, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 16, 1968, to the late Leland Mack "Bucky" and Betty Jane Unger Boozer. John was an avid outdoorsman, who spent most of his days fishing on Lake Murray or hunting on his family farm with his cousins, who were like brothers, Greg and Luther. John's unique passion for the outdoors and the joy he found in these cherished moments will never be forgotten, as he felt being outdoors and learning to hunt and fish were a crucial part of childhood. John was also an employee by O L Holley and Sons Inc. in Batesburg for over 20 years.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth "Beth" Ellwanger Boozer; stepchildren, Reid and Riley Chandler; sister, Rebecca Lynn Younce; three aunts; two uncles; three nephews; several cousins; along with many extended friends and family members. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Kay Soldo.
A celebration of life for family and friends to honor John will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Catch-A-Dream Foundation, a non-profit organization that offers a once-in-a-lifetime hunting and fishing experience to children across America and Canada who are 18 years old or younger that have a life-threatening illness.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Amedisys Hospice staff for their love, support, and care during John's illness, especially his nurse Brandi Hallman.
