John Hicks

John Cleveland Hicks, 67, of Wagener, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2023. Mr. Hicks was born in Asheville, North Carolina, a son of the late Albert Creighton Hicks, Sr. and Mary Charles Mcfee Hicks. He was a faithful man of the Lord and was a member of the NLT Apostolic Church. Mr. Hicks loved being outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, hog hunting, riding horses and raising baby chickens and ducks. Most importantly, Pawpaw loved his family and spending time children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Belinda Hicks; children, Heidi McElory (Charles), Kelli Rish (Adam), Hanna Benton (Alex Welsh), Johnathan Draughan (Brandy Kay), and Joshua Draughan; grandchildren, Charles "Trey" Weaver (Amaya), Maleah Chavis (Jake), Ciaran Rish, Alyssia Rish, Faith Benton, Gabriel Welsh, Amelia Welsh, Matthew Draughan, Grayson Draughan, Joshua Draughan, and great grandchildren, Alaina Cooper and Lawsyn and Lynnde Weaver. He is also survived by his siblings, Dean Hicks, Clara Baity and Scott Hicks; brother-in-law, Chad Kilgore (Ann); and many extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, William Welch and siblings, Albert Hicks, Jr., Janie Cox and Renie Fox.

A memorial service for Mr. Hicks will be held at 2:00 P.M. on October 7th, at NLT Apostolic Church, 5765 Edmund Highway, Lexington, SC 29073. The family will receive friends following the service.
