JW Barham, of Batesburg, SC passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at the age of 94. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, February 16, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home Chapel with entombment in Christ the Good Shepherd Mausoleum with the Reverend Charles Leonhardt officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers are Chad Satcher, Will Satcher, Scott Moore, Brandon Moore, Taylor Tibbs, Justin Moore, Josh Moore and Chris Ray.
Mr. Barham was born in Aberdeen, Mississippi on September 10, 1925 to the late Charles E. Barham and Avis Cantrell Barham. Mr. Barham was a member of First Baptist Church Leesville, and a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a pipeline welder from the age of 17 until he retired, having made the last tie-in weld on the Tran-Alaska Pipeline in the late 1970’s. JW had a long and adventurous life; his belief in honesty, generosity and in helping others in need guided him in the way he lived his life.
Surviving are his daughters, Barbara Watson (Kyle), Martha Smith (Steve); and a sister, Mary Teer of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He has five grandchildren, Michelle Morrison, Scott Moore, Summer Smith Satcher (Chad); and two step-grandchildren, Robin Moore Sikes (Brian) and Wendy Watson. Mr. Barham also is blessed with eight great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Vounzell Nichols Barham; and daughter, Sharon Barham Rich, and brothers, Kenneth and Wayne McDaniel; two grandchildren, James Blythe Moore V and Terri Moore; two great grandchildren, Travis Rae and Edward Reaves; and a great-great grandchild, Bentley Tibbs.
