Larry Cephus Shumpert

Larry Cephus Shumpert, 68, passed away May 17, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, May 19, at Pauline Church of Christ with interment in the church cemetery with Rev. Rick Farwell officiating. Visitation will be held at 2:00 – 3:00 P.M. Thursday, May 19, at the church before the service.
Active pallbearers will be Stanley Shumpert, Glenn Shumpert, Jay Shumpert, Dennis Padgett, William Anders and Trevor Padgett. Honorary pallbearers will be Derwin Shumpert, Roddy Shumpert and Brent Shumpert.

Mr. Shumpert was born in Leesville, SC, son of the late Cephus and Magdelene Roland Shumpert. He was an Army Vietnam Veteran and a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans. Mr. Shumpert retired from Carolina Eastman. He was a member of the Fairview community and a volunteer fireman for 28 years. He was a member of Pauline Church of Christ.

Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Judy Mosley Shumpert; children, Jack; Chris; Dawn and Alysia; grandchildren, Ashely (Glenn) May; Coleman Ricard; great grandchildren, James and Vivianna May; honorary grandchildren, Lillie and Colby Mosley; brother and sister-in-law, Wendell (Ethel) Shumpert; sisters and brothers-in-law, Elaine (James) Ward; Annette (Gerald) Padgett; Angie Anders; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cephus and Magelene Roland Shumpert; brothers, Clyde; Alfred; Theo and Curtis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Pauline Church of Christ.
