Lawson L. "Corky" Grubbs, Jr., 69, of Lexington, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2025, following a brief illness. Born on January 9, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Elaine Huber and Lawson L. Grubbs, Sr. He worked as a pastry chef for over 20 years and served in the United States Marine Corps. He was also a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Lexington, where he took pride in serving in the Celebrate Recovery program and the children's ministry. Mr. Grubbs was a loving father, grandfather, and church member who was loved by many.
Surviving are his sons, Joshua Grubbs (Brooke), Michael Grubbs (Kayla), and Jonathan Grubbs; grandchildren, Aaliyah, Lily, Gwen, and Jasper; sisters, Susanna Beckman, Ruth Mecum,
Linda Maldonado, Debra Shelton, Janice Smallwood (JD); aunt, Sharon Goscinski (John); companion, Betty Ann Knapp; former wife and close friend, Janet Balentine Grubbs; along with many extended family members. In addition to his parents, Mr. Grubbs was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Grubbs.
The memorial service to celebrate Mr. Grubbs' life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on April 5th at First Baptist Church of Lexington, 415 Barr Road, Lexington, SC 29072.
