Lefkios “Lefty” Evandrou, 78, of Lexington, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 9, 2023. Lefty was born on March 20, 1945 in Cyprus, to the late Christoforos Evandrou and Maritsa Alexandrou Evandrou. He was the owner and operator of several restaurants and bars in New York throughout his life and loved spending his free time in the casino. Lefty enjoyed watching the New York Islanders play hockey, was an avid gardener, and found joy in cooking and grilling for his family and friends. He kept the room filled with light and laughter while sharing jokes and reciting poetry that put a smile on everyone around him. Lefty will always be remembered for exhibiting endless support and unconditional love for his family.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Androulla “Andrea” Evandrou; daughter, Marina Stegmann (Jonathan); grandchildren, Tara Andreanna (William), Tina Alexa and Tyler John. Also surviving are his siblings, Andrew, Emily and Zenon; along with many beloved family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Georgia.
The funeral service for Mr. Evandrou will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, November 17th, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral with burial in Ridge Crest Memorial Park. Rev. Fr. Michael A. Platanis will conduct the service. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. on Friday, November 17th at Milton Shealy Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be: Tyler Stegmann, Andrew Evandrou, Zenon Kritikos, Michael Stegmann, William McInvale, and Jonathan Ermel.
