Leroy Whittle

Leroy Whittle, 92, of Gilbert, passed away Friday, March 3, 2023. Mr. Whittle was born in Leesville, SC, a son of the late Otis and Blanch Anderson Whittle. He was a faithful member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church for 70 years. Mr. Whittle worked for 43 years at Olympia Mills and later worked at Albert Hartley Construction. He loved hunting, fishing and anything outdoors. He also loved searching flea markets and garage sales for the best deals. Mr. Whittle was affectionally known to family and friends as Pa, Pa Deer and Ham Bone.

Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Olivia Smith Whittle; son, Ricky Whittle (Rachel) of West Columbia; daughter-in-law, Darlene Whittle of Gilbert; grandchildren, Amanda Whittle, Austin Whittle, Brandon Whittle, Hope Whittle Binkley; and great grandchildren, Juno Whittle-Ford, Audrey Binkley Day, William Binkley, Wyatt Binkley, Wesley Binkley, Abigail Binkley, Sarah Whittle and Jackson Whittle. Also surviving are his siblings, Guy Whittle (Lona), Billy Whittle (June), Carolyn Whittle, and Irene McCullough (Vernon). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, William Whittle; grandchild, Taylor Whittle; and siblings, Ray Whittle (Virginia Mae), Melvin Whittle, Sara Lee Stone (Carroll) and Gladys Leaphart.

The graveside service for Mr. Whittle will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 7th at St. Matthews Lutheran Church Cemetery. Pastor John Derrick will officiate the service. The family will receive friends following the graveside service in the church fellowship hall.
