Lola Elaine McCarty Durst

Batesburg

Lola Elaine McCarty Durst, 82, of Batesburg, passed away peacefully at Wellmore in Lexington on October 4th, 2024. Born in Wagener, SC, she was the daughter of the late Opal Redd and Smith McCarty, and stepdaughter to Wilson Ouzts of Johnston. Elaine lived a life filled with love, dedication, and joy. She gracefully managed the demands of both her family and career, retiring after many years of dedicated service at Columbia Metropolitan Airport. A woman of many passions, she found immense joy in her family, music, the company of her pets, and the challenge of a good game of bridge.

She is survived by her children, Delynn Barnes (Randy), Donna Durst, and Brent Durst (Carrie); six grandchildren, Adam Barnes (Susan), Stephanie Widmann (Stan), Miranda Crapps, Samantha Brandt (Alex), Thad Gosick, and Clayton Gosick; along with her seven great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and happiness. Also surviving are her nephew, Davey McCarty and niece, Amy McCarty James. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David McCarty.

The memorial service for Elaine will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, October 12th, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home with Rev. Lisa Isenhour officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior beginning at 10 A.M.
