Lorna Joan Johnson

Lorna Joan Johnson, 96, of Batesburg, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023. Mrs. Johnson was born in Hertfordshire, England, a daughter of the late Harry Walter and Edith Mary Arnold Fleckney. She was a faithful member of Eastside Baptist Church where she served as a former Sunday school teacher and was an active member of the WMU. Mrs. Johnson loved everyone, especially her family, and her beloved cats. She loved flowers, drawing, collecting stamps, and was also known as a talented seamstress.


Surviving are her children, Gary Edward Johnson, Cary Thomas Johnson (Penny), Marilyn Susan Miller (Don); grandchildren, Kari Hadley (Alan), Justin Miller (Liz), Gregory Johnson, Fleckney Finley (Tom), Bryan Johnson, Mark Johnson (Carissa), Vicki Johnson; and great-grandchildren, Annabello, Abbegail, Hadyn, Justin (Jenna), Zoe, Jaden, Lorna, Joan, and Nora. Also surviving are her sister, Marion Crick, along with several nieces. In addition to her parents, stepmother, Suzannah Eliza Fleckney, and her husband, Thomas E. Johnson, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Robert Clarence Johnson.


A memorial service for Mrs. Johnson will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 22nd at Milton Shealy Funeral Home with the Rev. Mitch Bruner and Rev. Robert Culbertson officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Eastside Baptist Church, 325 Mill St, Batesburg-Leesville, SC 29006.
