Louise Moore Fox, 87, a dual resident of Batesburg-Leesville, SC and Maggie Valley, NC went home to be with our Lord on Sunday, December 1, 2024. She was born November 20, 1937, in Walhalla, SC to Louie and Jessie Mae Moore. She was a 1955 graduate of Monetta High School. Louise Moore married her high school sweetheart, Levy Norman Fox, at Central Baptist Church in Aiken, SC on September 2, 1955. She worked in banking and bookkeeping at Newberry Federal Bank and J.B. Martin. In retirement, she briefly ran a rural mail route that was cut short when she found her true passions of caring for her grandchildren and spending summers in the mountains. In her later retirement, she spent many years volunteering at the Batesburg Christian Ministry Center. She was an active member of Hulon Baptist Church where the members were a part of her family.
Louise loved gardening, birdwatching, cross stitching, crocheting, cooking, canning, and spending time with her family and friends. Anyone who had the pleasure of meeting her though, could quickly tell she was the most proud of her cherished grandchildren and her mountain home in Maggie Valley, NC.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Levy Norman Fox; her two sons, Stephen Len and Timothy Wyman Fox, her parents; Louie and Jessie Mae Moore, and her brothers; Roy Mitchell, Louie Edgar, Walter Jefferson, and David Earle Moore. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Mark Fox (Teresa); two grandchildren, Judson Fox (Marissa) and Micala Hartley (Brooks); and two great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Joseph Fox. Louise is also survived by her siblings, Linda Bledsoe, Harold “Buddy” Moore, Lunette Windburn, Michael Moore, and Lois Christensen; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
The service for Mrs. Fox will be held at 2 o'clock on Friday, December 6th at Hulon Baptist Church with Pastor Barry Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Crest Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be: Dave Bouknight, Will Bouknight, Matt Clary, Parker Evans, Austin Gantt and Forrest Gantt. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5 until 7 o'clock at Milton Shealy Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Hulon Baptist Church Children’s Fund, 133 Hulon Church Road, Batesburg, SC 29006, or the Christian Ministry Center, 1408 Summerland Ave., Batesburg-Leesville, SC 29070 or Batesburg-Leesville Senior Center, 241 Highland Avenue, Batesburg-Leesville, SC 29006.
