Mack David Gantt

Mack David Gantt, 80, of Batesburg, passed away Friday, February 18, 2022. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 22nd, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home.

Mr. Gantt was born Columbia, SC, a son of the late Levon Gantt, Sr. and Katie M. Dreher Gantt. He was a University of South Carolina graduate, where he earned a Master's Degree in Education. Putting his degree to use, he became the Principal at Ridge Spring Monetta High School for many years, until he served as the Director of Adult Education in Aiken County. Mr. Gantt spent a number of years being an advocate for the public school system, as well as serving as principal or assistant principal for several schools during his years in public education. In his spare time, he loved to spend time outdoors and in his garden.

Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Nancy Hinton Gantt; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Richardson (Ryan); and son and daughter-in-law, Kevin David Gantt (Ashly). Also surviving are his grandchildren, Aubrey, Rashad, Sha-Dasia Richardson; Tyler, Annalee and Ava Gantt; and Raymond and Gracelyn Matyka. He is also survived by a brother, Lavon "Sonny" Gantt, Jr and a step-brother, Lee Gantt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-brother, Charles Neely.
