Martha Hancock

Martha Rose Chavis Hancock, 74, of Columbia, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022. Mrs. Hancock was born in Salley, SC, a daughter of the late Gary and Mammie Lou Chavis. She loved fishing, watching NASCAR racing, the Clemson Tigers, and wrestling. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family and grandkids.

Surviving are her children, Danny Hancock (Cybil), Crystal Lopez (Julio), Carla Balleza (Fernando), and Louann Herron (Marty); grandchildren, Marie Acosta (Marcelino), Jennifier Rosales (Pablo), Jorge Lopez, Kimbereley Hancock (Martin), James Hancock (Brandy), Marbel Lopez (Marilena), Rigo Lopez, Carlos Lopez, Ayanna Hancock, Kaylee Hancock, Julian Cortes, Jesus Cortes, Juan Cortes, Mateo Cortes, Alayna Cortes, Patricia Best and Bethany Herron; along with 20 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters, Lori Jones (Jeff), Donnie Chavis (Nancy) , Katie Jeffcoat and Marvin Chavis (Patsy); and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Wayne, Danny, and Jerry Chavis; sister, Sarah Gray; and life-time partner, Odell Grubbs.

The service for Mrs. Martha will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 15th at Milton Shealy Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Jones officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
