Maurice “Ronald” Keisler, Jr., son of Maurice Keisler, Sr. and Lillie Jean McCormack Keisler passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at his residence in Batesburg. He was 59 years old. Surviving are his son, Jeffrey of Anderson and daughter, Misty Jones (Chris) of Batesburg. He has one grandson, Thomas, who was his joy. Ronald was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Wesley; and his wife, Sheila, who remained the love of his life until the end.
Ronald spent his entire life in Batesburg-Leesville and was well known and loved by many people. As a young boy, he developed lifelong bonds that would follow him throughout his life, where he would frequently check in on everyone. During his teenage years, while working fulltime at Piggly Wiggly and attending school, he still managed to find time for his friends, riding the Strip in Batesburg or going to the drive-in in Monetta. Later, he would drive the wrecker at the old I-20 Speedway, which gave him plenty of stories that he would often reminisce about. He was employed by Columbia Farms as a truck driver for nearly 30 years. He also owned a lawn care and appliance repair business for many years.
If only one thing can be said about Ronald, it’s that he loved and took care of his family and those around him. He did whatever needed to be done in order to make sure those around him were happy and well taken care of. He was known for his random phone calls just to talk. He always had a joke about every situation. He was devoted to his wife and children. Without fail, he sent a text every night that said, “I love you. Sweet dreams.” We rejoice in the fact that he is reunited with Sheila. There wasn’t a day that went by that he didn’t mention how much he missed her.
The family will receive friends at Hulon Baptist Church, 133 Hulon Church Road, Batesburg on Monday, June 14th at 4 p.m., followed by a 5 p.m. memorial service at the church. A repast, hosted by Hulon Baptist, will follow the service.
