Mavis Cockrell

Mavis Padgett Cockrell, 88, passed away January 26, 2021. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 P.M. Friday, January 29th, at West Creek Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery with Rev. Robert Culbertson and Rev. Bob Woodyard officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Masks and social distancing are encouraged. Active pallbearers will be Wayne Cockrell, Steve Cockrell, Kenny Padgett, Denver Padgett, Kenny Warren, and Jerald Lybrand.

Mrs. Cockrell was born in Ridge Spring, SC, a daughter of the late Daniel Webster and Myrtice Turner Padgett. She was a member of West Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Cockrell retired from Union Switch and Signal. Along with her husband, they enjoyed flowers and gardening together. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Surviving are her husband of 70 years, Venson Heyward Cockrell; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel (Diane) Cockrell; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy (John) Kneece; grandchildren, Shelley Barry, Lacey (Kevin) Clowdis, Jena (David) Fisher, Eric (Amanda) Kneece, Katelan (Logan) Kranz; 8 great grandchildren with another soon-to-be great grandchild on the way. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters.
