Melrose Buzhardt

Melrose Buzhardt, 85, of Batesburg, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 P.M. Tuesday, April 21, at West Creek Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery with Reverend Hank Fanning officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00-3:30 P.M. prior to the service at the church. The family will receive friends also at The Shed of her son Wayne Buzhardt on 365 Old Golf Course Road. Active pallbearers are Troy, Hughie, Baron, Daryl, Ashley Buzhardt, Josh Frye and Joe Carroll Buzhardt. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Holmes, Junior Poole, Lamar Cockrell, Jonathan Castro and Kyle Wallace. Mrs. Buzhardt was born in Columbia, SC daughter of the late Felix Elmer Corley and Juanita Addy Corley. Melrose was a very faithful and active member of West Creek Baptist Church for well over 60 years. She was treasurer for 25 years and church clerk for a number of years. After retiring as a bookkeeper and sales lady for 70 years she became a certified nurse assistant and worked at nursing homes and sat with the disabled for lots of years. She was married to the late John Pete Buzhardt. Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, John Wayne (Karen) Buzhardt; Joel C. (Joni) Buzhardt; Wyman A. (Crystal Smith) Buzhardt; daughter and son-in-law, Anita H. (Jack) Philips; sisters, Joyce C. Buzhardt of Batesburg; Daphyne C. (Buddy) Ridgell of Batesburg; brother and sister-in-law, Ronald N. (Edna) Corley; daughter-in-law, Regina Buzhardt; grandchildren: Ashley (Danielle) Buzhardt, April (Jay) Jarrett, Josh (Karen) Frye, Jessica Frye, Joe Carrol Buzhardt, Jill (Brent) McCauley, Kelli (Kyle) Wallace, and Ami (Devin) Brown; fifteen great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Paul Corley; and brother-in-law, T.W. Buzhardt. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to West Creek Baptist Church, 248 Church Road, Batesburg, SC 29006.
