Merna Teresa Hoffman

Merna T. "Dink" Hoffman, 64, of Hartsville, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 20, 2024. Born on March 15, 1960, she was a daughter of the late Ervin G. "Buddy" Crowley and Marlene Singletary Crowley. Merna was a devoted mother and cherished friend, whose spirited presence and laughter could light up any room. She navigated life's joys and challenges with resilience and grace. Her nurturing spirit and zest for life left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Merna's legacy is one of love, family, and friendship. Her vivacious spirit and open heart endeared her to all who knew her, and her impact on those around her will be remembered for years to come.


Merna is lovingly survived by her sons, Arty Capell and his wife Danielle, and Benji Hoffman; three grandchildren, Arielle Capell, Raine Capell, and Christopher Hoffman; brothers, Bennie Crowley, David "Randy" Crowley (Jeanette), and Ervin "Bo" Crowley all of Hartsville; sisters, Barbara Steen (Tommy), Judy Marshall both of Hartsville and Trudy Grant (Roger) of Kenley, NC. In her journey through life, Merna was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her husband, Benny Hoffman; her step-son, Christopher Hoffman; sister, Donna Crowley Perdue; and brother-in-law, Walter Ronnie Hoffman.


The service to celebrate Merna's life will be held at 2 o'clock, Saturday, January 4th at Gum Branch Baptist Church, 1504 Clyde Road, Hartsville, SC with Pastor Scott Keith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 until 2 o'clock in the church. Milton Shealy Funeral Home is assisting the family.


Merna will be dearly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched. We find comfort in knowing she is now resting in everlasting peace, free from the burdens of this world.
