Michael McGee,52, of Batesburg, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 26, 2021. Born in Prosperity, SC on February 27, 1969, he was a son of the late Franklin Norell McGee Sr. and Faye Louise Wilson McGee. Michael worked in maintenance at Batesburg Middle School. He loved the outdoors, hunting, building things, History, and Civil War reenacting. Michael had a great sense of humor who loved to tell jokes. He was especially known for his quick smile and his love for everyone. His friends where a part of his family. Michael dearly loved his wife, children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, and extended family, but most of all he loved the Lord. He was a faithful member of Mt. Ebal Baptist Church.
Surviving is his wife of 25 years, Michelle Keen McGee ; children, Brandon McGee (Briana), Melissa McGee, Josh McGee, and Matthew McGee (Jameka); his grandchildren, Trinity, Adrienne, Janiyah, Kylee, Harvey, Ariel and Lane; sisters, Cindy McGee, Linda Garner (Chris), Sharon Hudson (Randy), and Candice McGee (Bobby); brothers, Brian McGee, Frankie McGee (Christy), Monty McGee (Sherry) and Chris McGee. He is also survived by special family members, Tish Singletary, Gail Brown, Terry and Lisa Brown as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Ann Garner.
The service for Mr. McGee will be held at 4:00 p.m., on Wednesday, June 30th at Mt. Ebal Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Paulling officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Active pallbearers will be: Raymond David, Jeffrey Rodgers, Robert Heyward, Gene Hartley, Wesley Hartley, Steve Hall and Avery Hall. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews.

The family extends special thanks to Heart of Hospice, especially Latoya Tolen and Deb Olvey, for their love and care during Michael’s illness.
