Morris Wayne Gunter

Morris Wayne Gunter, 64, of Batesburg, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, January 16, at Mt. Ebal Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery with Rev. Bill Paulling officiating. Mr. Gunter was born in Lexington, SC, son of the late Desola W. and Ida "Janet" Gunter. He enjoyed his job and friends at SCDOT, gardening, and tending to his farm animals. Morris was a selfless man who always placed others ahead of himself. His unwavering faith in Jesus sustained him throughout his life. He is survived by his companion, Brenda Rarick; sons, Winton and Sammy Gunter of Batesburg; step-son, Chris Hall of Batesburg; sister and brother-in-law, Annette (Ludwig) Thibault of Chattanooga, TN; brothers and sisters-in-law, W. Samuel Gunter of Batesburg; Larry (Ann) Gunter of Batesburg; Bruce (Susan) Gunter of Batesburg. In heaven, Morris will be reunited with his dad, Desola; and his mom, Janet, who preceded Morris Dec. 18, 2014. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Thursday, January 15, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Ebal Baptist Church Building Fund, 5 Lion Loop, Batesburg, SC 29006.
