Nelwyn Oese Hall

March 1, 1935 — October 14, 2023

Nelwyn "Oese" Hall, 88, of Batesburg, was called to be in the presence of our Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 14, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Frank D. Hall. Oese was born on March 1, 1935 in Lexington County to the late William and Alice Tura Kneece. She spent her early years working along side of her husband, Frank, in their construction business where together they helped to grow and shape the community they called home. Oese was passionate about continuing to care for her community as she worked closely with the beautification committee and the city of Batesburg-Leesville and took great pride in community projects. She showed unconditional love towards all whom she met and never ceased when looking for a way to unselfishly give to those around her. Her joyful heart lent itself to a positive attitude, unselfish acts of kindness, laughter and great friendships. Oese brought laughter and joy to the hearts of many through her gift of baking cakes, donating her time to small businesses, visiting those who were sick and shut in, and assisting in the community with various projects. Her compassion extended to her four-legged friends who also found refuge in her care and love. Oese loved all unconditionally, expected nothing, gave everything, and touched many lives.

Surviving are her daughter, Debra Bedenbaugh (Trant) of Leesville; sons, Donnie Hall (Fran) of Batesburg and Ronnie Hall (Cheryl) of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Angela Hall of Jackson, TN, Chris Hall (Caroline) of North Augusta, and Amanda Bedenbaugh Driggers (Jeremy) of Leesville. Her heart was centered around her great grandchildren, Kyryn, Paisley, Aspyn, Creed, Channing, Sadie and Scarlett. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Noleta Black and Lafond Boatwright and brothers, Thurmond and Lanair Kneece.

The funeral service for Oese will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 17th at St. Johns United Methodist Church with burial immediately following in Ridge Crest Memorial Park. The Rev. Scott D. Nurse, Jr. and Rev. Mike McClung will officiate. Active pallbearers will be: Dave Bouknight, Mike Boles, Randall Warren, Tim Shumpert, Carey Frick, Al Wilson and her great grandsons, Kyryn and Creed. Honorary pallbearers will be: Wayne Black, Tim Hall, Brad Derrick, David Padgett and Deepak Harpalani.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Monday, October 16th, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home and other times at her home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Johns United Methodist Church, 513 W. Church Street, Batesburg, SC 29006 or the Palmetto Lifeline.
