Retired MGT. Leonardo Dunbar Padgett aka “Knot “ or “Pops”, 81, passed away Saturday October 15, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 19, at First Baptist Church of Leesville with interment in Ridge Crest Memorial Park with Rev. Charles Leonardt officiating with full military honors and masonic rites. Active pallbearers will be the deacons of First Baptist Church of Leesville. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men’s Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of Leesville, the Retired NCO Members and Ordained Deacons of First Baptist Church of Leesville.
Mr. Padgett was born in Leesville, SC, son of the late Lee Roy and Ruth Padgett. He retired from Amick Farms as a service rep and grew chickens for Amick Farms. Mr. Knot was an employee of Milton Shealy Funeral Home. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Leesville where he was a Deacon since 1958. He was a member of the Batesburg-Leesville Masonic Lodge #138 and the retired NCO Club. He was an S.C. Army National Guard Veteran. He was an avid Clemson Tiger and Batesburg Leesville Panther Fan.
Surviving are his wife, Marian Padgett; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon (Kenny) Padgett; Marcia (Dennis) Padgett; Ginger (Alan) Harmon all of Batesburg-Leesville; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara (Robert Wayne) Fulmer of Seneca; brother-in-law, Bob Gantt of Batesburg-Leesville; grandchildren, Stephanie (Bob) Carter of Lexington; Denver (Tristin) Padgett; Macey Padgett; Langley (Daniel) Patterson of Saluda; Hannah Padgett and fiancé, Austin Jumper; Avery Wash; Eli Padgett all of Batesburg-Leesville; and great grandchildren, Ensley, Lizzie and Sophie Patterson of Saluda; Lyla Rose Padgett of Batesburg-Leesville. He was preceded in death by his son, Clinton Padgett and sister, Marilyn Padgett Gantt.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 18, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, other times at his home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Leesville, 264 Main Street, Leesville, SC 29070 or the Heart of a Panther, student athlete screening, 338 West Columbia Avenue, Batesburg-Leesville, SC 29070.
