Ronald Corder

Ronald Gene “Pete” Corder, 73, of Fairview, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at his home, following a difficult battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Mr. Corder was born in Batesburg, South Carolina on November 16, 1947, a son of the late John Etheridge Corder and Savannah Mae Hall Corder. He was a member of Convent Baptist Church for over 42 years where he faithfully served as a deacon, was on the Benevolence Committee, and held many other positions.

Mr. Corder was the greenskeeper at Cooper’s Creek Golf Club for 29 years and then worked for Corder Pest Control for another 15 years. He enjoyed gardening and sharing his homegrown fruits and vegetables with his friends and loved ones. He was known for his kindness, generosity, humor, and his earnest prayers. He will be greatly missed by many.

Surviving is his devoted wife of 45 years, Debra; sons, Rex Corder of Gilbert and Michael (Heidi) Corder of Lexington; daughters, Shanna (Bryan) Barwick of Aiken, Stephanie (Chad) Kirkland of Little Mountain, Tiffany (Mark) Phifer of Lexington, and Marianne (Reid) Wood of Lexington; a brother, Roy Corder of Batesburg; brothers-in-law, David (Amy) Stalnaker of Pelion and Sammy (Linda) Stalnaker of Wagener; sisters-in-law, Vickie Corder of Batesburg and Judy Sanders of Batesburg; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: James, William “Buck”, Marvin; and a sister.

The funeral service for Mr. Corder will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 25th, at Convent Baptist Church, 787 Convent Church Rd, Leesville, SC 29070 with Pastor Travis Crumpton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM in the church sanctuary.
