Roy Junior Frick went to his Heavenly home after a short battle with cancer, Monday, February 9, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, February 12, at St. James Lutheran Church (Summit) with interment in Ridge Crest Memorial Park with Pastor Ed Miller and Pastor Gary Lyerly officiating. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons, and nephew, Carey Frick. Honorary pallbearers will be the St. James Lutheran Church Council. Mr. Frick was born in Lexington County, son of the late Eddie Williston and Girlie Mae Smith Frick. He owned Frick's Track and Welding. He was a member of the Lexington County Council for 22 years, the Mid-Carolina Electric Co-op Board of Trustees for 26 years, a past member of Gilbert Ruritan Club and a past leadership member of the Boy Scouts. Mr. Roy was awarded the Order of the Palmetto by Governor Beasley and also the Palmetto Patriot both in 1998. He was awarded Outstanding Young Farmer and was the Grand Marshall of the 1997 SC Poultry Festival Parade. Mr. Roy was a lifetime member of St. James Lutheran Church, where he taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, served on the church council and was a member of the Lutheran Men's Association. He would always lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Lavonia Oswald Frick; sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky (Donice) Frick; Darrell (Angela) Frick; and Marty (Melodie) Frick; daughter and son-in-law, Tina Frick (Danny) Knight; sister and brother-in-law, Maudine Frick (Billy) Taylor; brother and sister-in-law, Harold (Nan) Frick; grandchildren, Shanna (Rhett) Watson; Richard (Ginny) Wall; Jessica (Joe) Carter; Jarrod (Brittany) Frick; Roy (Maggie) Frick; Dallas Frick; great grandchildren, Cody; Tabitha; Katie; Reid; Olyvia; Graham; Nathan and Noah; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bob Oswald; Jim (Nikki) Oswald; Bill (Mary Frances) Oswald; Johnnie (Linda) Oswald; Teresa Oswald; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant sister; brothers, Pasco, Woodrow, Jack, Leonard, Paul Bruce Frick; brother-in-law, Tom Oswald; and grandchild, Felicia Frick. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 11, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, other times at his home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church Building Fund, 308 Church Street, Leesville, SC 29070, or any charity of one's choice. The family would like to give a special thanks to Mary, Jackie, Erin, and Jo with Palmetto Health Hospice and caregiver, Thelma.
