Rudy Whitfield Jr.

Calvin Rudy Whitfield, Jr. 73, passed away suddenly at his home on April 12, 2021 in Saluda, SC. Rudy was born on October 20, 1947 to the late Calvin Rudy Whitfield and Annie Louise Prather Whitfield in Augusta, GA. He was the oldest of 10 children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Brian Whitfield; brother, Kenny Whitfield; and sister, Phyllis Whitfield Ash.

Rudy served in the U. S. Navy. He then began a career in instrumentation with Honeywell. In 1986, he opened the heating and air conditioning company, Airtec Services, Inc. in Columbia, SC. Apart from managing his business, Rudy loved spending time with his family at his home on the lake. He was a strong Christian man who loved the Lord.

Rudy is survived by his wife of 55 years, Wanda Toole Whitfield; daughter, Tonya (Leigh) Milton and son, Calvin (Ana) Whitfield; grandchildren, Sundance (Rebekah) Whitfield, Shelby (Ian) Carey, Reno (Victoria) Whitfield, Calvin Whitfield, Kyle Whitfield, Natalie Milton, and Jessi (Douglas) Miracle; great grandchildren, Jaiden Whitfield, and Sundance Whitfield II. He is also survived by brothers, Jeff (Sheri) Whitfield, Michael (Karen) Whitfield, and Jerry (Tammy) Whitfield; sisters, Susan Austin, Sherry (David) Howell, Sheila (Doug) Stewart, and Debbie (Ronnie) Martin; and many loving nieces, nephews, and relatives.

The service for Mr. Whitfield will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 16th, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, 115 North Pine Street, Batesburg, SC with Pastor Hilary Taylor officiating. A graveside service with military honors will follow the service in Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery, 363 Bethany Road, Saluda, SC. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
