LaRose and her husband were both graduates of Western Carolina College where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree. She was a secretary at Ridge Spring Monetta High School where she later substituted after retirement. “Mema” as her grandchildren called her, was a cherished and admired woman by many. Anyone who met Mrs. Smart was affected by her loving, kind and quirky personality. In addition to her parents and husband of 39 years, William Robert Smart, she was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Andrew Jackson, Jr.
A service for Mrs. Smart will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 12th at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 164 Mt Pleasant Rd, Ridge Spring, South Carolina with the Rev. Vollie Gibbs officiating. The family will receive friends in the church Family Life Center from 1 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service beginning.
